State daily overtime rules

Most states follow the federal weekly-only standard. These four add daily thresholds — all built into the calculator's presets:

StateDaily OT (1.5×)Daily 2×Weekly
CaliforniaOver 8 h (+ 7th day)Over 12 h (+ 7th day > 8 h)40 h
AlaskaOver 8 h40 h
NevadaOver 8 h (lower-wage employees)40 h
ColoradoOver 12 h (or 12 consecutive)40 h

Nevada's daily rule applies only to employees earning less than 1.5× the state minimum wage; Colorado also triggers overtime after 12 consecutive hours regardless of the workday. Rules change — verify with your state labor agency for an active dispute.
