Calculation breakdown
Hourly wage to weekly, monthly & annual
Full-time (40 h/week) gross pay, before overtime and taxes:
| Hourly | Weekly | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| $12.00 | $480 | $2,080 | $24,960 |
| $15.00 | $600 | $2,600 | $31,200 |
| $18.00 | $720 | $3,120 | $37,440 |
| $20.00 | $800 | $3,467 | $41,600 |
| $25.00 | $1,000 | $4,333 | $52,000 |
| $30.00 | $1,200 | $5,200 | $62,400 |
| $40.00 | $1,600 | $6,933 | $83,200 |
Worked example: 42.5 hours at $18/hour
The table above answers "what does my wage come to over a year". The more common question behind "time pay calculator" is the other direction — I worked these hours, what am I owed? Here is that calculation in full, with the overtime premium applied under the federal 40-hour rule.
| Step | Working | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Regular hours | 40 × $18.00 | $720.00 |
| Overtime hours | 2.5 × $27.00 (1.5 × $18) | $67.50 |
| Gross pay | — | $787.50 |
Two things trip people up here. The overtime premium applies to the hours beyond 40, not to the whole week — those first 40 hours stay at the base rate. And the 2.5 overtime hours earn $27.00 each, not $18.00, which is why 2.5 extra hours add $67.50 rather than $45.00.
Weekly gross pay by hours worked
Gross pay for a single week, with hours over 40 paid at time-and-a-half under the federal rule:
| Hourly | 35 h | 40 h | 45 h | 50 h |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $15.00 | $525.00 | $600.00 | $712.50 | $825.00 |
| $18.00 | $630.00 | $720.00 | $855.00 | $990.00 |
| $20.00 | $700.00 | $800.00 | $950.00 | $1,100.00 |
| $25.00 | $875.00 | $1,000.00 | $1,187.50 | $1,375.00 |
| $30.00 | $1,050.00 | $1,200.00 | $1,425.00 | $1,650.00 |
Figures are gross — before tax, and before any unpaid break time is deducted. If your state sets a daily overtime threshold rather than a weekly one (California pays overtime past 8 hours in a day), these weekly totals understate what you are owed; use the overtime calculator with the right state rule.
