How to use this calculator

  1. 1

    Enter your annual salary

Your gross yearly salary. The tool converts it to a weekly amount (÷ 52).

  2. 2

Enter the hours your salary covers

Usually 40. This is the divisor that turns weekly salary into an hourly regular rate.

  3. 3

Enter your hours worked this week

Total hours actually worked. Hours over 40 are overtime at 1.5× the derived rate.

  4. 4

    See your overtime pay

Regular rate, overtime hours and the extra overtime pay you are owed on top of salary.

Salary ≠ exempt. The single most common overtime mistake for salaried staff is assuming no overtime is owed. If your role doesn't pass the duties test, you're non-exempt and entitled to time-and-a-half above 40 hours — regardless of being "on salary." When in doubt, check the overtime rules guide or the DOL fact sheets.
